Run 05 – 13th May 2022

Meet your drivers for this run: Mike & Guy!

After a delay at the border, they finally made it through to Ukraine!

How better to describe run no.4 than to use the words of Anna Pukas James, a great supporter of ours, who accompanied Mike and Guy on this trip to Lviv:

What a remarkable, emotional and rewarding few days. Kristina and I are on our way back from a trip to deliver aid to Ukraine. We made it into Lviv, where life seems to be going on as normal, despite the eight missiles which fell the day before we arrived on Jahoriv, which is not too far away. We travelled with Mykee Hockham and Guy Ticehurst, two indefatigable chaps who have turned themselves into an impressively well-organised operation, with a small, efficient and reliable network of contacts in Poland and Ukraine. Each trip costs £1,000 in fuel which they fund through donations to a Facebook page and their own pockets. They take their own rations, sleep mostly in the van and Mike has even raided his pension fund to keep going.

Our delivery of about half a ton of medical and surgical equipment, boots (for soldiers), artificial limbs, non- perishable foodstuffs plus a trailer load of pet food went as smooth as silk. We unloaded at a pre-arranged address and we know exactly where it’s headed. The only headache was the long wait at the Polish-Ukrainian border: 5 hours to get in, three to leave and it must be said, the Ukrainians seem to be rather more efficient as well as much cheerier.

Our guys having to do a quick repair in Lviv before setting off back. Whilst stopping the night not far away there was a missile strike and in there hotel the warning alarm sounded. Even after all this they still had high spirits as you can tell from this video!
