Preparing for Run 36 – Brass Band Aid, May 2025

As Andy is preparing for the next run, here are some updates on the last run which we received after we got back.

First up, some videos from our friends at “I Will Help” showing some of our aid being sent out:

We also received video from Nataly in Zaporizhzhia:

These final videos are for the wheelchairs we delivered on behalf of East Sussex for Ukraine:

It was then time to start collecting aid for this run! We are indebted, as always, to members of Brass Bands in the South East, Dee Johnson and her friends, Medi Tech Trust and Michael Kobarenko for their continued support for Ukraine. Andy took the opportunity to also deliver a patch from “I Will Help” for Bob!

My dear friend Michael Kobarenko provided a lot, and I mean a lot! of aid:

Andy also assisted Rick Bonner in putting on a benefit gig in Eastbourne which raised much needed funds to purchase urgent medical items such as Tourniquets and compression bandages. Huge thanks to “The Sounds of Swing” Big Band who freely gave their time for this event. Rick raised over £1300! Andy was able to sell some pin badges towards the funding of this run and also ran a silent auction of a magnificent model tank on behalf of “I Will Help” which raised £225 or them. Other items sold brought this total to over £400 which will be handed over during the next run.

Andy was also able to secure an interview with “Learning News” at a work related conference with the aim of securing specific IT related items:

Finally, regular readers will recall the demise of my previous van – I donated it to the military and provided funding to repair the engine. The charity “You are not alone” then raised the additional funds to convert it into an emergency rescue vehicle! Once I am allowed to share video of the finished van, I will do so but in the meantime, here’s some shots of the work in progress.

The next run will be Andy’s 19th run to Ukraine and Run 36 for the network!
The usual run updates will be posted on this site starting tomorrow! (19th May).
